We have been renovating our home and recently had new verandah rails installed. In the process, the old letterbox (which was housed on the old rail) was removed and we have had many months with this crappy old letterbox perched precariously on two pot plant tubs (ie 2 so that it was at an easily accessible height for the postie as you don't ever want to p*#s off the postie and I rather like our postie)! At any rate, it looked horrid, and although we had bought a flash new letterbox at the time of verandah reno, we had never gotten around to installing it! Well, you will be please to know that today I did it, went to the hardware store & bought a couple of bags of concrete mix (labourisly mixed in a wheelbarrow by yours truly), dug the hole & inserted concrete & said letterbox. Add a modest amount of levelling, some support timbers and taa daa - mission accomplished. I was rather chuffed with my efforts and couldn't wait for hubby to get home to display my handywork!!
A touch of shabby, a dash of vintage, a hint of elegance and an abundance of chic! This is my world, sometimes it is elegant but more often it is shabby. It is a sweet, comfortable, french-loving world that has inspired me to create. From preloved vintage mirrors etched with chandeliers and candelabras, to hand stencilled prints of the same on lovely fabric adorned with crystals, to feminine coathangers of roses, lace & crystals and even a dash of shabby chic baby wear. Please Enjoy xxx
About Me
- Jodi
- I am a 40-something mother of three! Two big ones (21 years & 20 years) and a littlie of 17 months!! My world has gone from corporate management to nappies, sleepless nights & cuddles! I have left the coporate world behind and am now a proud stay-at-home mum! This time has brought great joy and has allowed me the luxury to delve into my creative side. Between playtime and naptime there is a creative window where I can paint, stencil, etch, sew & have my very own grown up playtime. My life is truly blessed and my blog allows me to showcase my craft & offer you a glimpse into my world. I aim to sell my creations and welcome any interest from my friends and followers. May everyone experience the joy of true happiness in life, love and family and may we all find a vocation, hobby or path that inspires us to be the very best version of self that we can be. I hope you enjoy my blog and maybe it will inspire you to learn something new, embrace those that you love and in essence, just smile! xxx

Mirror, mirror on my sister's wall!!
Just thought you might like a peak at a mirror I did for my sister - she has a black/choclate style going on, ie chocolate leather lounges and soon to be 'black' painted furniture (she had the white 'shabby' look but she is a tad over white - or at least over the lttle boy fingerprints left daily by her two boisterous, gorgeous, gregarious boys)!! The simple, sleek, modern chocolate frame sits so well in her loungeroom, well at least I think so! I told her I would give her the chocolate fabric chandelier print as I thought that they would compliment each other well - best not forget to drop it off to her this week! Saturday, February 5, 2011
Formatting, formatting, formatting!!!!
Just a quick post to state that I have spent most of this hot, gusty, disgusting summers day of 40 degrees (in my backyard of Lake Macquarie), in my air conditioned home attempting to format my blog so that it is a tad more reader friendly. I am mildly happy with the result, though can't seem to work out how to minimise a picture from my PC so that it can be a background to my blog title! Think I will save this for another day as Miss 17 months is vying for my undiverted attention. I hope everyone was able to spend the day keeping cool, one way or another, be it in the a/c, perhaps shopping at a centre, maybe in the pool or even under the sprinkler (ahh now there are some feel good childhood memories)!!. I am sure we are all looking forward to the upcoming cool change, for me it will bring the opportunity to play with my mirrors some more!! I am hoping to have a quick trip to Sydney tomorrow to source some French inspired ornate frames - though I haven't advised hubby yet, bet he's gonna be thrilled (perhaps I will butter him up with something yummy for dinner)!! xx

Mirror & Print Pictures Added Today
I have managed to add some pics of a few of the etched mirrors I have done along with a sample collection of stencilled framed wall arts. It is still a slow slog for me on this whole blogging thing & I have no doubt that I could format both my blog page & layout much better but with Miss S clambering (is that a word?) all over me, this is the best I can do today!! Hopefully, I will post more pics in the next day or so, including some very feminine coathangers & some baby wear, but for now this will have to do. Please let me know what you think of my craft, I am keen for feedback.
Ps Be sure to send a blessing to our kinfolk in Queensland & pray that they survive this cyclonic weather.
New name already! Ooops, but sadly just too many Vintage Chic Boutiques....
To my lovely 3 followers, my apologies but already I have made a blog faux pas - my original name of 'Vintage Chic Boutique' seems to be very popular on the www and sadly I have made a last minute decision to change the name to 'Shabby Chic Boutique'. I had actually tossed up between these two names for quite a while and basically it was a flip of the coin as to which I chose - ha ha ha, seems to be typical of many decisions in life, with even a 50/50 chance, the one we choose turns out to be the wrong one. On the up side, I am sure many people are far more familiar with the shabby chic decorating style so perhaps I was meant to choose this name all along!! I will post this on my FB page and hopefully my '3' friends will get the link asap. Once again, sorry for the bumble, but I am sure it is only the first of many as I tread precariously through blogland...........
PS Have taken many, many photos that should get uploaded very soon & be sure to watch out for my Facebook page, appropriately named: Shabby Chic Boutique!!!!!
